Chicago Felony DUI Defense Lawyer

Experienced Felony Drunk Driving Defense Lawyer in Chicago and Illinois

Although most DUIs will be charged as a misdemeanor, there are DUIs that will have felony charges and the penalties for a felony charge are much more severe. If you have multiple DUI offenses, starting with your third DUI conviction, the charge can become a Class 2 felony, which is punishable for 3-7 years in prison.

In Illinois, “aggravated” DUI offenses are classified as felonies and include:

  • DUI when a child under 16 years old is in the vehicle and is injured in the accident
  • DUI resulting in death
  • DUI without a valid license or permit
  • DUI without vehicle liability insurance
  • DUI resulting in great bodily harm or injury

If you are convicted of a felony DUI, you will have your driver’s license revoked. If you are convicted of your third DUI, your license will be revoked for at least 10 years.

Felony DUI Conviction Penalties

The penalties for a DUI conviction are very severe and can have a very strong impact on your life. There are certain cases in which your charges can be reduced during negotiations or by plea bargaining.
